Welsh short stories

This is an anthology of five Welsh short stories. The title “The Dark World” comes from one of the stories in the book, written by Rhys Davies. It was the first Welsh literature to be introduced to the Japanese Audience. The illustrator Ando Naoki depicted the beautiful image of the old Welsh countryside with a hint of hope. I chose an uncommon binding method which is in between a hardcover and paperback style, to keep it light and still has a literature feel.

５つのウェールズ文学を収録した短編集です。タイトルの『暗い世界』は収録されているリース・デイヴィスの作品からとっています。今までウェールズ文学が本になったことはなかったため、日本初のウェールズ小説集でもあります。イラストレーターの安藤巨樹さんがウェールズの古き田舎町の形式をかすかに感じる希望と共に美しく描いてくれました。手になじむ軽さやしなやかさと、文学的な存在感の両方を保つために、造本には仮フランス装を選んでいます。
